Diploma in Midwifery

Description

The Diploma in Registered Midwifery is a practice-oriented programme that prepares students with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes needed to deliver safe and compassionate midwifery care through a blend of classroom learning and clinical practice. It plays a vital role in Ghana’s national development by contributing to reduced maternal and child mortality, improved reproductive health services, and a strengthened frontline health workforce.

The programme also supports gender equality by promoting safer pregnancy and childbirth, contributes to economic development by reducing healthcare burdens associated with maternal and neonatal complications, and fosters a culture of evidence-based practice, providing a foundation for lifelong learning and future professional advancement. Graduates of the Diploma in Registered Midwifery programme are equipped with the essential knowledge, clinical skills, and professional attitudes required to provide safe, competent, and compassionate midwife-led care.

They are trained to support mothers, newborns, children, and adolescents in both normal and abnormal situations, thereby contributing to healthier families and communities.
